In the past month, the Second Amendment Foundation and its partners have been handed wins in two cases, both in New York.
On Tuesday, Oct. 8, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the Second Amendment Foundation’s (SAF) challenge to Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF) regulation expanding what constitutes a “firearm.” The case is known as Garland v. VanDerStok.

The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) has announced they will seek Supreme Court review in Bianchi v. Wilkinson, SAF’s challenge to Maryland’s assault weapons ban, after the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the law.

In August 2021, the Mexican government filed a lawsuit in U.S. federal court against Smith & Wesson and other gun manufacturers alleging the companies facilitated illegal gun trafficking into Mexico. In essence, Mexico is blaming companies in the United States (as well as Austria and Italy) for the rise in violence in the country. The suit seeks billions in damages from the manufacturers named in the suit.
