Posted by NASGW on 2/15/18 9:58 AM
In this article, we attempt to bring some clarity to the strategic planning process, helping executives like you find the “switch” to shed some light on this fuzzy discipline and to make strategic planning the “guiding light” for your organization. This is the second of two articles on strategic planning.  In the first article,   “Your Strategy – Guiding Light or Dull Fog Horn?, we looked at what strategic planning is and is not and why so many competent leaders struggle to create effective strategic plans. We shared that our experience has shown there is a dirty little secret about strategic planning in the leadership ranks - many executives   do not  actually know the building blocks of a strategic planning process – which frequently arises from a lack of understanding of the purpose of a plan. While there is no shortage of definitions and schools of thought on strategic planning, there does seem to be a lack of simple, effective, step-by-step approaches to developing a strategy that works.

Posted by NASGW on 1/31/18 9:24 AM

The 2018 edition of Shot Show is in the books and everyone in the industry is full steam ahead. It's always great to wander the floor in Las Vegas and catch up with old friends, check out the new products, and chat about the upcoming year. This year's show was particularly interesting after the soft year many experienced in 2017. The old saying goes, "when times get tough, the tough get going," and our industry is a great example of that. After our week in Las Vegas, a few big takeaways were pretty clear; there is a big push for innovation and a general sense of optimism for 2018.

Chairman's Message: Renewed Optimism

Posted by Brad Burney on 1/30/18 9:07 PM

Another Shot Show is in the books, and the industry is buzzing again with the opportunities of a new year. After a soft year for many, a sense of optimism for 2018 seems to be a common theme among the many vendors, customers, and colleagues I have spoken with. For the first time in many years, I was unable to attend Shot Show due to some unforeseen events. I missed seeing my colleagues, my friends, and the many people I’ve built business relationships over the years. Shot Show is always a great time to connect and get the new year started right. For those of you who were in attendance, I truly hope the show was successful for you.
