Chairman's Message: Exciting Times at NASGW

Heritage and longevity are something that many businesses in our industry understand. NASGW is no different. 2023 will mark the 70th anniversary of NASGW. This association has been around longer than most of us have been alive. The organization has changed numerous times over the years as NASGW was initially founded as Sporting Goods Jobbers Association in 1953. It’s no surprise that things are much different in 2022 than when NASGW began, as are the businesses and industry NASGW serves. In the past 5-6 years, we have recently seen quite a few changes, including the Annual Expo, SCOPE, and the services NASGW provides. As our industry has been evolving, so too is NASGW. With this big 70th anniversary on the horizon, our staff and leadership are taking a hard look at who NASGW is and who NASGW will be in the future. These are exciting times as NASGW will be laying out a vision for what this means for our members and the greater shooting sports industry. NASGW Launches SCOPE PLX 

The National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW), the association representing shooting sports wholesalers, manufacturers and their trade partners, takes one big step toward product standardization across the industry with its launch of SCOPE PLX (Product Link Exchange) this week. 

SCOPE PLX is the first-ever standardized database of shooting sports products. With PLX, shooting sports manufacturers can easily enter detailed UPC data for each product, including images and brochures, to be shared with all participating distributors at once. 

New NASGW Expo App to Provide Exhibitors More Ability to Market Themselves

As preparations for the 2022 Expo continue, NASGW is putting the final touches on a new event app that will allow Exhibitors to manage their own profiles, including company descriptions, photos, videos, and more. This will provide a great opportunity for attendees to preview brand and products they are less familiar with. In addition to the new exhibitor profiles, the app will feature a much more robust map helping everyone find what they are looking for. If you are an exhibitor, stay tuned for more details on how to manage your app profile. In the meantime, if you have a person in charge of marketing for the NASGW Expo, including submitting products for the New Product Showcase and Caliber Awards, please click the link below to designate that individual so we can be sure to include them in any email updates on deadlines and instructions on managing the app profiles. 

Expo Registration Scheduled to Open This Week

NASGW is planning to open registration for the 2022 NASGW Expo on later this week. This year's Expo is scheduled for October 26-28 in Kansas City, Missouri. At the time of registration, members will also be able to reserve hotels, purchase tickets for the Annual Appreciation Dinner, and review advertising opportunities. Watch your email inbox or check back on the NASGW Expo website to register.

NSSF Releases 2022 Economic Impact Report

The total economic impact of the firearm and ammunition industry in the United States increased from $19.1 billion in 2008 to $70.52 billion in 2021, a 269 percent increase, while the total number of full-time equivalent jobs rose from approximately 166,000 to over 375,819, a 126 percent increase in that period, according to a report released by the NSSF, the firearm industry trade association.
