Chairman's Message: Final Chapter

In this, my final letter as Chairman of NASGW, I want to thank you all for the privilege of talking to each and every one of you through these letters. I hope these letters have in some ways given you inspiration and guidance in your career and personal development.

As a reminder, some of my themes were centered more on my life philosophies, like Independence, Relationships and Passion. While others were centered around business issues, such as Direction, Goal Setting and Strategic Planning, and Change. In each of these themes, I shared my thoughts on how I approach my day, in work and at home, with friends and family. All of this has been shaped by many of my past and present peers and mentors. It is my hope that in some way these letters have helped you in your career and that some of you have found positive reinforcement of your balance of work and family life.

Sharing my thoughts and ideas on work and personal life has given me the opportunity to improve myself as well. This has allowed me to re-evaluate my priorities.

Dues renewals have been sent out for 2024. Please get those paid prior to the end of 2023. We appreciate your attention to these invoices as we continue to plan for the upcoming year. 

NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, revealed that the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) completed 680,671 background checks related to firearms for the week leading up to, and including, “Black Friday,” one of the busiest shopping days of the year. That figure is down slightly from 2022’s total of 711,372 for the same time period. The 2023 total is a 4.3 percent decrease from the 2022.

NASGW Supports Youth Shooting Sports Alliance

The Youth Shooting Sports Alliance (YSSA) announces the receipt of a donation from the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW) in the amount of $25,000.

“NASGW is proud to assist the YSSA with their mission of getting young people active in the shooting sports,” said Kenyon Gleason, NASGW president. “If this industry hopes to grow and succeed well into the future, we need strong, new leaders and active supporters. Putting our support behind the amazing work of YSSA is a great way to help.”

YSSA is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that supports the industry and youth shooting sports by providing equipment grants for youth shooting programs. Some items such as firearms and archery equipment are on short-term loans while others are donated, such as hearing and eye protection, targets, and other range soft goods.
